Shin Megami Tensei Iv Apocalypse

Alignment & Penalties

Shin Megami Tensei (roughly translated as 'True Goddess Reincarnation') centers around the struggle between heaven and hell, and humans and demons. Each game is an isolated affair in a new world. Sep 20, 2016  The story of Shin Megami Tensei IV: Apocalypse is one of human pawns being shuffled across a chessboard by the higher deities.

(Huge thanks go to Zeruel for this information!)

As I noted in the previous section, the two Neutral endings - the ones you want to obtain - are classified by two further terms, Light and Dark. This is done for a reason. Throughout the game, you will make multiple decisions during conversations and the like. Doing so will increase your Light points or your Dark points.

During the decision in the Cosmic Egg with Dagda, your Light/Dark points comes into play, depending on which choice you make. If you have 40 or more Dark points than Light points, but choose to go against your Alignment by going for the Light ending (opposing Dagda), Dagda will get rid of your demons. Likewise, at the same point in the game, if you have 40 or more Light points than Dark points, but go against your Alignment by picking the Dark ending (siding with Dagda), Dagda will get rid of your items.

On the other hand, if you make a decision that coincides with your Alignment, or the difference between your Dark and Light points is less than 40, then no penalty will be gleaned.

Less importantly, your Alignment also can affect the DDS titles you can obtain: six in all. Three are for getting 50, 75, and 95 Light points, and another three for 50, 75, and 95 Dark points.

With these things in mind, here are the decisions you can make and how many points they get. There's one special case for battles, but otherwise these all prompts given during the storyline. To avoid spoilers - and to match Zeruel's format - I am going to simply going to list the message prompts and the choices and what they yield.
