Let's have it right, SP Mod is toilet.Don't take this the wrong way, but have you ever drifted a car? Or daily driven a drift car?I have, so let me elaborate on my opinion.SP mod is like.
It's like somebody who's never driven a drift car, but has read lots on the internet about drifting, made a pack, and made it handle how they presume a drift car handles, rather than how a drift car actually handles.Generally speaking, there is absolutely no reason why a drift car is any less capable around a track than a race car.Drift cars, generally, have lots of steering lock, and either welded rear diffs or very tight 2 way diffs, and a lot of power. Now, a lot of power, and a welded/2 way diff are obviously not exclusive to drifting within the Motorsport world. There have been an awful lot of very successful racing cars that use a spool (no diff at all, same concept as a locked diff)So we're left with increased lock being the main thing exclusive to drift cars.Increased lock, without the addition of a faster steering rack, will not alter the feel of the car in ANY way. You can simply turn the wheels further when you do lose the rear end, but pottering around it feels completely normal.I guess I'm rambling a bit now so I'll try to wrap it up.I had a BMW 328 drift car, that was also the best fast road car I've ever owned. It handled beautifully, it went sidewards beautifully.
There is absolutely NO reason that a 'drift car' shouldn't also make a fast track car.I love racing the Kunos E30 Drift. It makes a very good rival to the Audi Quattro S1, it's a great track car IMO, and that proves my point. The SP cars are simply awful when driven as 'normal' cars, they feel like they have been made purely to drift, with no regard to making them behave like cars.People only like them because they virtually drift themselves, and I'm sure I'm not the only one who bought AC for it's realism? If you want cars that drift themselves you may aswell play Grid or something IMOeditI thought of a good example. Google 'Driftworks DW86'It's an AE86 built on the floorpan of an Ascar. It's one of the most famous, and most capable drift cars in the world, and it's based on a Nascar/Ascar/whatever. People think 'Drift Cars' are some weird type of unicorn that can only go sidewards, which isn't the case at all.
