Every winter, college basketball fans are faced with a serious dilemma: what to do with the two or three hours a day that a game isn't being shown on ESPN, ESPN2, or that way-cool pay-per-view ESPN Full Court. One clue crossword chapter 27. Is hoping to solve that problem with the release of its deepest collegiate game to date. Has been tweaked on and off the court from last year's game and the results look to make it a front-runner for the national title.Having played the daylights out of NBA 2K8 - and loving it - we were pleased to see that developer continues to understand the differences between the pro and college games.
Instead of just tossing in the new additions from this year's NBA game into its college title, it wisely decided to develop new features specifically for its NCAA game. The major new development is the 6th Man Meter. Again college ball is not pro ball. The fans in Syracuse - at 30,000-plus strong in the Orange Dome - are rabid about their team. Same goes for the folks in Chapel Hill, North Carolina and Bloomington, Indiana.
Not to knock these places, but there's not a whole lot going on in February other than college hoops. Visiting teams know that they're going into enemy territory when they have to play there. When you have a team made up of 19 and 20 year-olds, nerves are easily jangled.
On the flipside, when you're the home team and you have a screaming throng tossing you its love, you're going to be able to do things you didn't think you could. And that's where the 6th Man Meter comes in. A green bar at the bottom of the screen fills as you do well. Max it out and you become stronger while your opponent loses a step and some sharpness on their shots. It's a cool idea, but it could have been cooler.
We found the meter filled too smoothly and gradually. We've never been to a college game where if you banged in a three-pointer and then stole the inbound pass and finished things with a dunk the place didn't go absolutely insane.
A meter that was a little more volatile might have made for a more realistic 6th man boost. I also found myself going for the big play instead of a more fundamentally sound one in order to stir up the crowd. While it did make the meter move, that's the kind of play that very few college coaches would put up with. The other main on-court addition is the Maximum Passing feature. Instead of weakly tossing the ball to your teammate, holding the L1 button - the manual incorrectly says L2 - lets you use the face buttons to deliver the type of pass you want. Not only is it a kick and real advantage to be able to hit your man with a very sharp bounce pass - as opposed to the lazy, default semi-lob pass - it also lets you be creative with the tempo of the game.
As requested, I have decided to come in here and create my own personal guide to the wonderfully expansive Legacy Mode in College Hoops 2K8. I will step through as much as I can in this guide, and include my personal strategies for creating the best dynasty. Mobile royale reddit. (Note: There are tons of ways to play the game, so don't take what I do as gospel.
It has worked for me but you may find other ways you like better.Starting Off:This will be covering a Career Legacy, not an Open Legacy. The only real difference is an Open Legacy lets you pick your school right off the bat and lets you max out your coach's attributes immediately. If you wanna build a powerhouse dynasty at your college right off the bat, this is the easiest way to do so. I personally find it less fun and love working my way up from the bottom:)When you begin you will be prompted with all of the. I typically leave these at default but again, personalize the game to your liking!Next you will Name him whatever, age him, use one of the very few selections of looks you can lol.
None of it really affects anything (even age, you get 40 seasons no matter what age you pick). Now comes the first important decision you will make in your legacy. What do I give to my coach?Offense:Improves players' offensive awarenessDefenseImproves players' defensive awarenessTeachingHelps players develop fasterScoutingHelps you scouting recruits and opponentsCharismaHelps you recruit players to your school more effectively, keeps players confidence upDisciplineMakes practice more effective and other small thingsHere's where my personal strategy first comes into effect. I load all 5 attribute points given at the start to Charisma. Here's the reason why.
No matter what school you pick to start your legacy with, it's gonna be a rough first couple of years. Charisma is KEY to getting recruits to your school, especially the small time schools you will start out coaching.
Attribute points are picked up after various achievements and awarded in the offseason each year. (I don't have the full list of achievements handy, but you might be able to find it.)They are easy enough to acquire that pushing Charisma to A+ as quick as possible won't affect too much else. After Charisma is at A+, I usually balance between Offense, Defense, and Teaching. Scouting and Discipline are always very low on my priorities list. You will see why for Scouting coming up.Picking your SchoolNow it's time to pick which is going to reap the benefits from their amazing young hire at head coach! Pressing the right thumb stick in gives you a nice overview of the team, and the LB and RB buttons will take you through other pages.NOTE FOR THE WHOLE GAME: WHEN IN DOUBT HIT THE RIGHT THUMB STICK INReally, team overviews, game matchups on the calendar, player profiles, recruit information, all of this is found by pressing down the right thumb stick (R3).Picking your assistantsNow you will pick your two Assistant coaches to help you on your journey.
Same attributes that you have except for one additional one.AmbitionThis is how likely the coach is to jump ship for a head coaching job someday. The higher their grade, the more they want to move up. So in the offseason you may completely lose an assistant and will have to replace. Each offseason you can replace your assistant coaches as well if they aren't getting the job done.My strategy is to get one coach that has good coaching stats, Offense, Defense, Teaching to help the team along.
My other coach is almost solely for scouting. I will search through the whole list of assistants and pick the coach with the highest scouting grade. This helps me delay raising my own scouting grade until later in the legacy and really helps when scouting recruits.Setting your scheduleNext you can customize your schedule if you want to. I usually just leave this alone, but it's your game, do what you want:)The ABLOne of the neatest little features of this game that is criminally underused by me when I do my legacies. I get a little too impatient so I usually simulate the entire ABL.But if you use the ABL it can be a nice benefit. You can gain recruiting points to use later on, you can play with the recruits and see if you like how they fit your team. I will try to add more later to this section, once I play around with it and get some experience.Main Legacy ScreenHere is the home screen that gives a brief look at the schedule, starting roster, recruiting info, etc.
I don't spend a whole lot of time on this main screen since there are so many other places to navigate. To be continued.
