So I have been playing numerous MMORPGs. Started out with Tibia and Metin2, then RoM, Rift, Aion, GW2, Tera, Revelation Online, BnS, BDO, Everquest 2, WoW, LOTR, Final Fantasy ARR, Wildstar, Sevencore, Allods Online, RuneScape, SWTOR.​I have found over time, that the new-ish MMORPGs (some in my list are old school I know) don't appeal to me so much anymore as they don't convey that 'classic' MMORPG feeling to me. That being said I've been on the lookout for an oldschool MMORPG and have stumbled upon ArcGames Forsaken World and Perfect World which seem to have been around for a while and still being updated/maintained frequently.Has anyone played either and can recommend which one to start or explain the core differences between the two?If you have another MMORPG to suggest feel free to, but I am pretty sure I will settle on one of these two. PW and FW are two of the most egregious P2W games out there. I played PW for years before I realized if I wanted to progress any further I was looking at sinking 1 to 2 K bucks for top shelf gear. It has some of the best group vs group guild PVP I have ever played.

It also has flying mounts, and flying combat (both air to air and air to ground). Still I did have a lot of fun initially with the game. It does have a really large and rich world. Try one of the private servers like Epic Perfect World if you are still curious.The original Guild Wars is a classic, looks really nice, plays well, has tons of content and a pretty big current player base. It is from a time before MMOs were dumbed down for the masses. It is challenging, no care bear easy zones.

It also has a lot of other old school tropes, like very deep class build options and about a gazillion skills to choose from.
