We are celebrating our wedding anniversary which is in November, so that is one reason we are visiting then. The other reason is he is a pilot and we fly standby, so we are hoping getting a seat on a will not be a problem. Since I have never been to Paris, I can't comment on how bad the weather will be, but on the positive side I am hoping for not as many crowds, shorter lines, no heat, enjoying hot chocolate and fireplaces, etc. I'm also hoping that some of the trees in the area will be pretty and fallish. It is 104 in Texas right now where I am from, so I am actually looking forward to bundling up and enjoying the sights of Paris.

The reasons we picked Nov. Is because we're celebrating my husband's 50th b'day which is 11/25, we were able to use frequent flyer miles (first class and a direct ), we get to see some of the Christmas decorations, and.it's Paris - a great city. We're planning on dressing warm though because we love to walk in Paris.

Not sure what the weather will bring but we'll just wing it when we get there. Because the last 2 yrs when I was there in late November I actually thought the was closed - there were no lines! But no, the ticket booth clerks were just standing around bored with nothing to do, til I came along!:-) So, one reason you go that time of year is because there are fewer tourists.There have been so many threads lately on 'the weather at this time of year' that frankly, if you are really so concerned about it, wait til Spring. I'll be throwing on an extra layer and enjoying the best city in the whole wide world in December, no moaning or whining about the cold. November in is very cold, (I remember hearing that it was 0 degrees outside when the landed at 6am), but I found that it was OK as long as I dressed appropriately with coat, gloves and hat. You may need thermals under your jeans on some days.The good things were: less tourists, lots of hot crepe and chestnut vendors and Christmas decorations in the streets and shops, which was lovely. There was also Paris Photo, a big photography expo at the Palais.Because of the shorter days and the cold I tended to spend more time in my room than I would do in the warmer months, particularly in the evenings.
